Four letters scaring big companies across Europe.
But fear not. GDPR is great news for you, the customer. And you know what? It's great news for us too. Because we’re not trying to scam you.
I'm well aware how privileged I am to be able to grace the sacred ground that is your email inbox. It's not something I'd ever take for granted.
But, to be able to continue talking to you, there's some stuff we gotta go through. Ok?
According to the General Data Protection Regulations, I’m legally obliged to inform you exactly how we handle your data.
Key part of that sentence? "we". We're a restaurant in Truro. Not a multinational who needs your mother's maiden name and knows what you had for breakfast.
• Who is managing your data?
Just us. We don't give anybody else access to your data. We certainly wouldn't ever sell it.
• What do I intent to do with your data?
We use your data solely to email you regularly. And also to help with the reservation process.
• How will I protect your data?
We store your data on our email software’s servers (ActiveCampaign). Also our own hard drive has a back up. Both are password protected and not in the public domain at any point.
• Why do I need your data?
Because email is the primary way we communicate with you. And because we want to be able to give you free stuff on your birthday.
• How long will I store your data?
For as long as you give me permission to. Not a minute longer.
• What are your rights to your data?
You have the ‘right to be forgotten’. If at any point you don't want to hear from us any more, just hit the unsubscribe button. Your data will then be permanently deleted. You can also do this by emailing me directly (firstname.lastname@example.org)
You also have a right to see exactly what data I hold on you at any time.. To request a copy of this simply reply to an email and I will provide you with the necessary information.
• Who else will get your data?
Hopefully that all makes sense. If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch. Otherwise, thanks for allowing me to keep talking to you.
See you in the restaurant soon.
From Thursday 8 March we're going to take time each week to celebrate everyone's favourite....steak.
Celebrate the festive season at Bustopher Jones.
We're welcoming in the autumn the only way we know how; with the return of Sunday roasts.
